117 Russian Citizens, Including Nepalis, Safely Evacuated from Iran, Enter Azerbaijan via Astara Crossing

Tehran – Amidst the heightened tension following the attack on Iran, efforts to safely evacuate Russian citizens from the country have been intensified. According to the Russian Embassy, the safe passage of Russian citizens continues through the Iran-Azerbaijan, Iran-Armenia, and Iran-Turkmenistan border crossings.

On Tuesday alone, 117 Russian citizens were evacuated in an organized manner through the Astara checkpoint on the border with Azerbaijan. The Russian Embassy stated that this group included 45 children, seven citizens of Belarus, and one citizen of Kyrgyzstan. The border crossing was completed under normal conditions.

On Wednesday morning, these citizens, along with those from other countries, were safely transported to Zhukovsky Airport in Moscow via a special aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. It was reported that authorities from Iran and Azerbaijan, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan assisted in this rescue operation.

The Russian Embassy has activated a 24-hour emergency contact number for Russian citizens in Iran. The embassy has urged them to make contact for necessary information and assistance in leaving Iran.

Russia is continuing its efforts to safely evacuate its citizens amidst the tense situation unfolding in the Middle East following the attack on Iran.
