81st Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War: Russian Embassy in Canada Honors Veterans

Kathmandu – On February 3, 2026, the Russian Embassy in Canada, together with the local Russian community, commemorated the 81st anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War by honoring veterans.

On behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, commemorative medals “80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945” were presented to the following veterans:
Nadezhda Evseeva – former concentration camp prisoner
Tamara Mitnik – survivor of the Siege of Leningrad

During a heartfelt and informal conversation, the veterans shared their wartime memories, recounted the fates of their families, and recalled the immense hardships endured and the courage shown by the Soviet people.
The occasion highlighted the contributions and bravery of the veterans, sending a strong message of respect and remembrance for all.
