The Himalayas Are No Longer Boundaries – They Are Bridges of Trust and Technology: President Poudel

Kathmandu, Nepal | November 7, 2025 – The President of the Nepal–China Mutual Co-operation Society, Mr. Prem Sagar Poudel, participated in the international conference “Digital Neighborhoods: Communication and Governance in the Trans-Himalayan Regions”, which commenced this morning at 9:15 a.m.

On behalf of his organization, President Poudel extended heartfelt appreciation to the organizers — Tribhuvan University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), and Kangba TV — and sent a message of best wishes.

In his message, President Poudel stated:

“The Himalayas are no longer boundaries — they are bridges of trust, technology, and shared progress. Nepal-China relations are based on a friendly history, mutual respect, and a shared aspiration for peace and development.”

He noted that in the digital age, relations between the two countries are becoming more people-oriented and innovative through technology and communication, saying:

“Communication is not just the exchange of information; it is a means of building trust, dialogue between civilizations, and partnership between nations. This is the essence of this conference; a collective journey towards shared, balanced, and responsible development.”

President Poudel described the conference as “a golden opportunity to deepen people-to-people relations, promote ethical communication, and build a shared digital future.”

In a brief interview with the media after the conference, Poudel defined the Himalayan region as a “digital family” and said:

“The Himalayas are no longer barriers — they are bridges connecting our societies through technology, trust, and communication.”

According to him, there are three main areas where Nepal and China can work together:

Media Collaboration — To promote balanced and authentic narratives about the Himalayan region,
Academic Exchange — To increase joint research between universities like Tribhuvan University and UESTC,
Technology Partnership — To collaborate on digital governance, artificial intelligence (AI)-based learning, and rural digital access.

Giving a message to young researchers and media personnel, Poudel said:

“Let us use communication as a bridge, not as a barrier. The future of the Himalayas depends on how wisely we use our words, our technology, and our trust.”

Finally, he emphasized:

“Let us all join together to make this conference not just an academic discussion, but a commitment to collaboration, innovation, and shared prosperity for the future.”
