China Accuses Japan of Provocations to Justify Military Buildup

Beijing, China. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on Thursday called for attention to whether Japan is intentionally stirring up troubles and making close-in provocations to justify its own military expansion.

Spokesperson Guo made the remarks in response to a question regarding reports that Japan’s Defense Ministry has signed a land lease deal to deploy a mobile surveillance radar unit on the easternmost island of Okinawa to monitor the activities of Chinese aircraft carriers and aircraft.

China urged Japan to refrain from actions that could affect regional peace and stability and to maintain mutual trust between the two countries. This incident highlights the growing security tensions in the region.

China has reiterated that all parties in the region must work together to maintain peace and stability, and that any unilateral military actions could exacerbate tensions.
