Russian Foreign Minister Holds Telephone Conversation with Venezuelan Vice President, Expresses Firm Solidarity Against Armed Aggression

Moscow, January 4. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation yesterday with Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Eloína Rodríguez Gómez.

During the conversation, Lavrov expressed Russia’s firm solidarity with the people of Venezuela in the face of the armed aggression they are confronting. He stated that Russia will continue to support the policy of the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela aimed at protecting the country’s national interests and sovereignty.

Officials from both sides agreed on the need to advance the path of dialogue to find a solution without further escalating the current situation. They also assured to strengthen coordination in bilateral and multilateral forums in the coming days.

In this context, both countries expressed mutual commitment to further enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Venezuela.

This conversation took place following the alleged military action against Venezuela, which Russia views as illegal interference in a sovereign state.
