Israeli Airstrikes on Lebanon Destroy Homes in Four Villages

Tel Aviv/Beirut — The Israeli military said on Monday that it carried out airstrikes on targets linked to Hezbollah and Hamas in Lebanon. According to the Israeli army, the attacks were launched due to what it described as continued violations of ceasefire understandings.

In an earlier statement, the Israeli military had warned that it would target certain buildings in the southern Lebanese villages of Anan and Kfarhatta, as well as in Al-Manara and Ain al-Tinah near the country’s eastern border.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) confirmed Israeli airstrikes in all four areas, reporting that four houses were completely destroyed. The report said the attacks caused serious damage to nearby residential buildings, vehicles, and shops. In Kfarhatta, one missile reportedly failed to explode and instead blocked a road.

Citing Lebanese security sources, China’s Xinhua News Agency reported that Israeli fighter jets carried out a total of 10 airstrikes in the targeted areas. According to the sources, the house struck in Al-Manara belonged to Hamas leader Sharhabil al-Sayyed, who was killed in an Israeli attack in 2024.

Prior to the strikes, the Israeli military had warned residents to evacuate the targeted buildings, claiming that they were being used by Hamas and Hezbollah.

Although a ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel came into effect on November 27, 2024, through mediation by the United States and France, the Israeli military has continued to carry out airstrikes in Lebanon from time to time. Israel maintains that these attacks are aimed at eliminating what it calls “security threats” posed by Hezbollah.
