New Acting President of Venezuela: Delcy Rodríguez Sworn In

Caracas – Former Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, was sworn in as the country’s acting president on Monday. This move comes after President Nicolás Maduro was forcibly taken into custody in New York during a U.S. military operation on January 3.

At the swearing-in ceremony, Rodríguez said, “I come with pain, because the suffering endured by the people of Venezuela due to the illegal military attack on our homeland is immense.”

She added, “I swear to the people of Venezuela that I will not rest for a single moment in ensuring the peace of the nation.”

The acting president emphasized the need for national unity during this “terrible moment that poses a grave threat to the stability and peace of the country.”

On the morning of January 3, U.S. military forces carried out various operations in Venezuela, during which Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were forcibly detained and taken to New York. The incident has drawn widespread international condemnation.
