President Putin Extends Greetings for Orthodox Christmas

Moscow, January 7, 2026 – Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his greetings to Orthodox Christians and all Russians on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas, celebrated on January 7 (2026).
In his Christmas message, President Putin said, “This wonderful holiday illuminates the world with the light of kindness and love, and gives millions of people the joy of communion with the spiritual traditions of our ancestors, passed down from generation to generation, and hope.”
He expressed deep appreciation for the immense and truly unique contribution made by the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian denominations in strengthening social unity, preserving the rich historical and cultural heritage, and fostering the patriotic and moral upbringing of young people.
According to the President, religious organizations tirelessly devote attention to works of mercy and charity, care for those in need, support participants and veterans of the special military operation, and work extensively to promote harmonious interfaith and interethnic dialogue across the country. He stated that this important and much-needed work deserves the most sincere recognition.
He wished all Orthodox Christians and everyone celebrating Christmas good health, success, and all the very best.
