Russia Imposes Sanctions on 28 Canadians, Accuses Them of Supporting ‘Neo-Nazism’

Moscow, Jan 8 – The Russian Foreign Ministry has imposed retaliatory personal sanctions against 28 Canadian citizens. The ministry’s statement claims that these individuals, through their activities within pro-Bandera organizations and structures, are seeking to promote the criminal neo-Nazi ideology currently upheld by the Kyiv regime.

Russia has described this step as a response to the “unlawful anti-Russian restrictions” previously imposed by official Ottawa. The 28 Canadian citizens on the sanctions list have been permanently barred from entering the Russian Federation.

The statement accuses these individuals of disregarding historical facts and the truth about the Great Patriotic War, while attempting to further align Canada with the most radical and uncompromising nationalist forces in Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has pointed to Kyiv’s appointment of former Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland as an adviser on “the economic development of Independent Ukraine” as further confirmation of this trend. The statement refers to Freeland as the “granddaughter of Hitler’s accomplice Mikhailo Khomiak.”

The ministry claims that, through this personnel decision and in deference to Canada’s aggressive Ukrainian neo-Nazi community, the Kyiv clique is seeking to whitewash the crimes committed by Ukrainian Nazis from formations such as the SS “1st Galician” Division, the SS Schutzmannschaft (Auxiliary Police) units, the Nachtigall Battalion, and others.

The statement emphasizes that “Russia consistently opposes all manifestations of extremism and xenophobia and will continue to take measures to safeguard its state interests and uphold historical truth.”
