Nepali Congress Issues Earnest Appeal to Maintain Party Unity and Discipline

Kathmandu — The Nepali Congress has issued an earnest appeal to all party leaders and cadres to uphold unity, discipline, and restraint within the party, stating that the country is currently facing a serious political situation. In an appeal released by the Nepali Congress Central Office from the B.P. Smriti Bhawan in Lalitpur, it is noted that the House of Representatives has been dissolved, leaving the country in a state of uncertainty and confusion.

The appeal references the scheduling of elections for the House of Representatives on Falgun 21, emphasizing that the Constitution must be safeguarded not only as a written document but also through democratic practice. Given the sensitivity of the current situation, the Central Office stated that it is essential for the Nepali Congress to remain united, organized, and strong.

The document recalls that the Nepali Congress has historically played a leading role during various periods of political crisis in the country by accurately assessing circumstances and providing decisive leadership. As a historic bearer of nationalism and democracy, the party is said to carry a special historical responsibility in the present context as well.

The appeal states that after the completion of the House of Representatives elections, conditions will be created to introduce necessary reforms and improvements in policy, leadership, and organization through the party’s 15th General Convention scheduled for 2083 BS. Until then, party members have been urged to set aside internal disputes, misunderstandings, and disagreements and to fully unite in the election campaign.

All central committee members, office bearers, general convention delegates, and leaders and cadres at the provincial, district, constituency, municipal, and ward levels—as well as sister organizations and well-wishers—have been urged to take the country’s challenging situation seriously and refrain from creating any form of internal discord within the party. The appeal also warns that activities weakening party unity could have negative consequences for both the party as a whole and the democratic system.

The Central Office has called on all party structures and levels to move forward with mutual understanding, restraint, and responsibility. Emphasizing unity, the appeal urges all Congress members to stand together to protect democracy, ensure stability, and safeguard the country’s future.

The appeal has been signed by Nepali Congress Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka.
