Telephone Conversation Between Russian and Belarusian Foreign Ministers: Coordination on Bilateral Cooperation and International Issues

Moscow, Russia: A telephone conversation took place on January 13 between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhenkov.
During the conversation, both sides discussed the multifaceted aspects of bilateral cooperation and coordination on foreign policy. Additionally, both ministers also exchanged views on key issues of the current international landscape.
This conversation is part of the regular high-level contacts between the two friendly nations. Russia and Belarus have recently expressed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in defense, economy, and humanitarian fields under the framework of the State Union.
According to analysts, the main focus of this conversation included topics such as the European security architecture, NATO expansion, the Ukraine crisis, and Western sanctions. Both countries have adopted a common strategic stance against Western pressure.

This telephone conversation took place just a week after Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. At that time, both leaders reiterated their commitment to deepening the strategic partnership.
The positions of Russia and Belarus in international forums appear to be largely aligned. Both countries have opposed Western hegemony while advocating for a multipolar world order.
