China and Canada Agree to Strengthen Cooperation from Clean Energy to Digital Technology

Beijing — China has expressed its willingness to strengthen cooperation with Canada in areas including clean energy, digital technology, modern agriculture, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and finance. During bilateral talks held in Beijing on Thursday with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed China’s commitment to further expanding cooperation in these sectors in order to cultivate new drivers of economic growth.
During the talks, Premier Li welcomed more Canadian companies to invest in China and expressed the hope that Canada would play a positive role in ensuring a fair and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises investing in Canada. He noted that economic cooperation between the two countries could be advanced on the basis of mutual trust and mutual benefit.
Following the prime ministerial-level talks, Li Qiang and Mark Carney witnessed the signing of multiple agreements and memoranda of understanding covering cooperation in trade, customs, energy, construction, culture, and public security.
These agreements are widely seen as an important step toward injecting new momentum into China–Canada relations. Both sides reiterated their shared goal of making economic development more inclusive, sustainable, and innovation-driven through expanded cooperation.
