KP Oli to be PM as UML Makes Firm Decision; Unanimous Meeting Finalizes Candidate List

Kathmandu / Yesterday’s important secretariat meeting of the CPN-UML has made a historic decision that the leadership of the future government will be led by Chairman KP Sharma Oli. As the party has maintained a full majority in parliament, this meeting also expressed the intention to move forward unitedly to strengthen this position.

Yesterday’s meeting also gave final shape to the list of candidates for various constituencies across all seven provinces. The publicly released province-wise representative list is as follows:

Sudurpaschim Province
From Kailali, there are 5 candidates including Dwarka Neupane, Surya Bahadur Thapa, and Gaurishankar Chaudhary, while from Kanchanpur, there are Kamala Bohara, Bachan Bahadur Singh, and Deepak Bhatt. Names have been confirmed from other districts, including Jhapat Bahadur Bohara (Achham), Lal Bahadur Thapa (Bajura), Deepak Dhami (Doti), and Chakr Snehi (Dadeldhura), among others.

Karnali Province
From Salyan, Gulabjung Shah; from Rukum West, Nandaram Devkota; from Surkhet, Dhurv Shahi and Kulmani Devkota; and from Jumla, Shantilal Mahat and Shantibahadur Mahat have been selected as representatives.

Lumbini Province
From Nawalparasi, Ram Prasad Pandey and Bhagwati Prasad Yadav; from Rupandehi, Basudev Ghimire and Khimlal Bhattarai; in many areas, arrangements have been made for the Chairman himself to finalize candidates. Candidate lists have also been made public from districts including Dang, Banke, and Bardiya.

Gandaki Province
From Gorkha, R.C. Lamichhane and Milan Gurung; from Tanahun, Bhagwati Neupane and Kedar Sigdel; from Kaski, Bain Bahadur Kshetri, Krishna Thapa, and Damodar Bairagi have been selected.

Bagmati Province
From Dhading, Bhumi Tripathi and Dhan Bahadur Ghale; from Nuwakot, Badri Mainali and Keshav Pandey; from Chitwan, Krishna Raj (Kamal) Pathak, Asmin Ghimire, and Shankarraj Thapaliya; and from Kathmandu’s 10 seats, names including Mohan Regmi and Maniram Fuyal have been made public.

Madhesh Province
From Saptari, Suman Pyakurel, Tarakant Chaudhary, Bal Krishna Chaudhary; from Dhanusha, Ram Chandra Mandal and Umashankar Agrahari; from Rautahat, Ajay Gupta and Shailendra Sah, among others, have been confirmed.

Koshi Province
From Jhapa, Ram Chandra Upreti, Devaraj Ghimire, Manoj Tamli, and Chairman KP Oli himself have been made candidates, while from Morang, a list has been prepared including Ghanashyam Khatiwada, Dilip Bagediya, and Dilip Rai.

This decision is a strong symbol of UML’s internal unity. The party has reiterated its commitment to fight unitedly under Oli’s leadership in the upcoming election and to lead the country towards stability. This decision to strengthen the party’s front by centering on Chairman Oli’s leadership has also set the stage for future political alliances and government formation.
