China Warns Against Pushing the Middle East into the Darkness of War

Strong Message at the United Nations: Any Military Action Against Iran Would Be Devastating

New York. As signs emerge that the Middle East is once again slipping under the shadow of war, China has warned that any form of military action against Iran would be disastrous for regional stability. Speaking at a high-level debate of the United Nations Security Council, China delivered a clear message that military adventurism would push the Middle East into an unpredictable and dangerous abyss.

China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, said during Wednesday’s (local time) debate on the Middle East that the situation in Iran has drawn serious attention from the international community. According to him, the entire Middle East is currently enveloped in the fear of war, with tensions continuing to escalate day by day.

Fu Cong stressed that Iran is an independent and sovereign country, and that decisions regarding its internal affairs should be made by the Iranian people themselves. He said China hopes for and supports Iran in maintaining national stability and firmly backs the safeguarding of Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

Speaking bluntly, he stated, “Force cannot solve problems. Any form of military adventurism would push the Middle East into an unpredictable and uncontrollable abyss.” China emphasized that solutions should be sought through dialogue and diplomacy rather than through threats of war or the use of force.

China also urged all parties to abide by the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, calling for non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and opposing the use or threat of force in international relations. According to Fu Cong, violations of these principles risk plunging not only Iran but the entire Middle East into deeper instability.

Meanwhile, China specifically called on the United States and other relevant parties to heed the voices of the international community and regional countries. China said that instead of taking steps that escalate tensions or pour fuel on the fire, greater efforts are needed to promote peace and stability.

China’s warning comes at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump has said that time is running out for Iran to reach a nuclear deal. According to U.S. media outlet NBC News, Trump urged Iran to enter negotiations over nuclear weapons, warning that failure to do so could result in the deployment of a “massive armada” of American warships.

Following Trump’s remarks, regional tensions have further intensified. According to Al Jazeera, Iran’s foreign minister said that the Iranian armed forces are fully prepared to deliver an immediate and powerful response to any potential U.S. attack. He warned that any assault would be met with swift and forceful retaliation.

Analysts say the escalating confrontation between the United States and Iran would not remain confined to the two countries alone. If the path of military action is chosen, its impact could spread across the Gulf region, Iraq, Syria, and even global energy markets. It is for this reason, China argues, that the current situation is extremely sensitive and demands restraint and a prioritization of dialogue.

China’s position is clear: the Iran issue cannot be resolved through war, but only through negotiations. The Middle East is already a region battered by decades of conflict, intervention, and instability. A new war would not improve the situation, but rather push it toward an even deeper crisis, China concludes.

Against the backdrop of growing rivalries among major world powers, where smaller and weaker countries are often the most affected, China’s message is being viewed as a firm intervention in favor of balance of power and multilateralism in international politics.
