Continuity of Russia-China Cultural Cooperation: Leningrad Region Symphony Orchestra’s Grand Performance in Beijing

Beijing – Although the formally designated Years of Culture between Russia and China have concluded, the creative exchange between the two nations continues to advance with the same momentum. As a powerful example of this cultural friendship, the Leningrad Region Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to give special musical performances at the National Grand Theatre in Beijing, the capital of China, from February 18th to 20th.

This musical tour, organized amidst the celebrations of the Chinese Lunar New Year, is expected to elevate Russia-China cultural relations to new heights. Established in 2017, this young orchestra has quickly established itself as a leading musical group not only within the Leningrad region but also internationally, earning acclaim in a short time. In 2025, the orchestra’s inclusion as a member of the Leningrad State Philharmonic is considered a significant achievement for it.

The program to be presented on Beijing’s main stage will feature a balanced and rich repertoire by the orchestra, including Russian and world classical music, famous opera arias, popular film scores, and Russian folk songs. The program will be directed by the orchestra’s Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Honored Artist of the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic, Mikhail Golikov.

Adding further allure to this musical tour, guest soloists from the Mariinsky Theatre – soprano Olga Pudova and bass Yakov Strizhak – will perform. Their participation is expected to provide a special experience for classical music-loving audiences at the event.

This program, between Russia and China, who have consistently strengthened mutual understanding and friendship through cultural diplomacy, will once again showcase to the world the profound cultural ties between the two civilizations.
