Journalist Dinesh Sitoula Passes Away During Treatment After Falling Unconscious in Achham

Achham – Journalist Dinesh Sitoula has passed away during treatment after suddenly falling unconscious during an election tour in Achham. The Grandy Hospital in Kathmandu, where Sitoula was undergoing treatment in the ICU after being confirmed to have suffered a severe head injury leading to brain hemorrhage, announced his death at 12:45 PM on Sunday through a press release.
Sitoula, a former president of the Film Journalists Association, was a well-known and respected name in Nepali cinema journalism. He had gone to Achham as part of the election tour team of senior leader Balendra Shah (Balen) of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
The incident occurred on Friday morning. After Sitoula suddenly lost consciousness in Mangalsen Municipality-4, Bangapata, he was immediately taken to Achham District Hospital. When treatment there proved insufficient, he was airlifted to Kathmandu via a Nepal Army helicopter and admitted to Grandy Hospital. According to doctors, his condition had become critical after suffering a head injury and brain hemorrhage.
On Friday morning at 9 AM, Balen was scheduled to arrive at the party office located in the central market area of Mangalsen, the district headquarters. Party leaders, activists, and supporters had gathered at the party office for the event. However, upon hearing the news of Sitoula’s unconsciousness within the tour team, Balen’s team diverted directly to the district hospital instead of proceeding to the party office.
Dinesh Sitoula, a resident of Tokha, Kathmandu, was active not only in journalism but also in the cultural sector. His untimely demise marks a loss of an experienced, active, and dedicated personality for Nepali journalism and the film sector. Various media personnel, political figures, and well-wishers are expressing deep sorrow and paying tributes following Sitoula’s passing.
