Lingden’s Warning: If Rastriya Swatantra Party Wins, the Country Will Face Crisis

Kathmandu / Former Minister and Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Rajendra Lingden, has warned that if the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) wins the election, the country will fall into a major political and administrative crisis. He has also urged those who believe in the republic to vote for the CPN (UML) led by Prachanda.

According to the understanding presented by Lingden at a public gathering, the father of this republic is Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda). Therefore, he advised the people not to waste their votes by splitting them left and right. His argument is—if the goal is to restore the monarchy, then vote for the RPP; and if you wish to maintain the republic, then you must vote for the CPN (UML).

He explicitly portrayed the RSP as a “political force of instability,” stating that if it secures victory, the country will face constitutional and administrative deadlock. His remarks appear to be targeting the recent rising demand for the restoration of the monarchy and the emergence of the RSP.

Lingden’s statement has once again brought the debate between the republic and monarchy to the center of electoral politics. He has urged voters to make a clear choice between the two alternatives—”CPN (UML) for the republic or RPP for the monarchy”—while presenting the RSP as a “risk” in between.
