‘Frog Skin’ and ‘Politics of the Dead’: Russian Embassy’s Response to Allegations Against Russia

Kathmandu — The Russian Embassy has completely dismissed allegations by Western countries that Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny died from poisoning. Terming the accusations leveled by Britain and some European nations against Russia on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference as a ‘political drama’, the Russian Embassy has alleged that Western media and intelligence agencies are conspiring to spread ‘anti-Russian hysteria’.

According to Britain’s claim, a toxic substance called ‘Epibatidine’ has been found in samples linked to the death of the Russian citizen in 2024. On this basis, Russia has been accused of violating the Chemical Weapons Convention. However, the Russian Embassy has completely rejected these ‘evidences’, stating, “There is no reason whatsoever to believe in such ‘conclusions’ of Western ‘experts’.”

Reminding of the Skripal case that occurred in 2018, the Russian Embassy said, “There were similar accusations back then, media hysteria, but no evidence anywhere.” The Embassy sarcastically remarked, “Was that poison ultimately extracted from the skin of a South American frog, or was it Novichok? The same confusion persists now.”

The Russian Embassy has also pointed to the role of media outlets that work in coordination with Western political structures and intelligence agencies. The statement reads, “The purpose of this ludicrous drama is to revive the declining anti-Russian sentiment within Western societies. If there is no pretext, one is laboriously manufactured.”

The most indignant part of the Russian Embassy’s statement is against the ‘necro-propaganda’ (politics of the dead) adopted by Western leaders. The statement says, “This is not a quest for justice, but an insult to the deceased. Even after the death of the Russian citizen, London and European capitals cannot allow him to rest in peace, even in eternal slumber. This fact reveals the true face of those who initiated this campaign.”

The Russian Embassy has dismissed these allegations by Western countries as ‘baseless’ and ‘based on imagination’. Concluding with sarcasm, it said, “We have become accustomed to the feeble-mindedness of Western storytellers. But one question certainly arises—what kind of person would believe this nonsense about a frog?”
