Phone Conversation Between Putin and Tokayev: Invitation for State Visit to Kazakhstan Accepted

Kathmandu – A telephone conversation has taken place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Kazakh counterpart, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. During the discussion held on February 16, it was stated that the two leaders discussed advancing comprehensive strategic partnership and friendly relations.

During the talks, special emphasis was placed on joint projects of mutual interest in the trade and economic sphere. The Russian Presidential Office stated that the implementation status of previous agreements was reviewed.

President Putin confirmed his participation in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council to be held in Astana at the end of May. In this context, President Tokayev extended an invitation to his Russian counterpart for a state visit to Kazakhstan. It has been reported that Putin accepted the invitation with gratitude.

The two leaders also exchanged views on international issues. At the conclusion of the conversation, both presidents agreed to remain in close contact.

This telephone conversation indicates that relations between the two neighboring countries will further deepen. Historically, Russia and Kazakhstan have maintained close economic and political ties.
