“RPP Welcomes King’s Message, Decision to Move Forward with National Consensus Initiative”

Kathmandu — A meeting of the central office-bearers of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) was concluded today at the party’s central office in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu. Since party chairman Rajendra Lingden is outside the valley due to the election campaign, the meeting was held under the chairmanship of senior leader and vice-president Buddhiman Tamang as per his directives. The meeting was attended by former chairpersons Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani and Kamal Thapa, along with other central office-bearers available in the valley.
The meeting has decided to welcome and support the message given by King Gyanendra Shah in the name of the countrymen on the eve of Democracy Day. The RPP has expressed the view that proceeding with the election process without addressing the nation’s problems is not appropriate, stating the need to create an environment that prevents the recurrence of conflict, unrest, and wrangling seen after elections.
Taking into account the current situation of the country, the party has emphasized the need to establish national consensus through an all-party conference representing all ideologies and forces. The RPP informed that it has previously submitted a memorandum to the Honorable Prime Minister and has been continuously engaged in dialogue and discussions with various political parties.
The meeting has decided to once again urge the government and political parties to build consensus for solving national problems, preferably before the elections. Furthermore, in line with the King’s message and the party’s policies, an appeal has been made to the general public to join the election campaign with high morale and create public opinion in favor of national consensus.
The press release bears the signature of spokesperson and publicity department chief Mohan Kumar Shrestha.
