Cold Wave Alert in China: Temperatures to Drop by 12 Degrees, Blue Alert Issued

Beijing / China’s National Meteorological Center issued a blue alert for a cold wave on Sunday. Due to the influence of the weather system, temperatures are expected to drop by 6 to 10 degrees Celsius on February 22 and 23 in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China, the northeastern provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning, and Jiangsu Province in eastern China. The center has stated that temperatures in some areas of Heilongjiang and Jilin could drop by more than 12 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Center has urged relevant authorities to make necessary preparations to cope with the cold wave and strong winds, as well as to implement measures to protect tropical crops and aquatic products in the affected areas.
China has a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, in which red indicates the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue indicating less severe conditions. The weather has improved compared to yesterday.
