Meeting Between Home Minister Aryal and UN Resident Coordinator: Focus on Cooperation and Election Security

Kathmandu. A courtesy meeting was held between Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal and the newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator for Nepal, Lila Pieters Yahia, at the Ministry of Home Affairs. During the meeting, discussions were held on enhancing cooperation in various sectors.
In the meeting, Minister Aryal highly appreciated the support provided by the United Nations in areas including Nepal’s governance reforms, climate change, and capacity building of local levels. He also expressed confidence that cooperation with the United Nations will further deepen in the days ahead.
UN Resident Coordinator Pieters Yahia expressed commitment to continue collaboration with the Government of Nepal and showed interest in expanding further support and cooperation in areas such as narcotics control, border security, and human trafficking.
During the courtesy meeting, Home Minister Aryal informed that the government is working intensively to conduct the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 in a peaceful, fear-free, and impartial environment. He reiterated the government’s commitment to institutionalize democracy by maintaining peace and security during the elections.
