A New Chapter in the Strategic Partnership Between China and Germany

Beijing / At the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has been on an official visit to China since February 25. The visit, which runs through February 26, is accompanied by a delegation of 30 senior representatives from Germany’s economic sector.
During the visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang both held meetings with Chancellor Merz. The top leaders of the two countries engaged in extensive discussions on China–Germany relations, international and regional issues, and economic policies.
Both sides highly valued the cooperation achieved under the framework of the China–Germany Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They reached consensus on fundamental principles including mutual respect, mutual benefit, open dialogue, jointly addressing challenges, and advancing diplomatic relations. The visit has injected new momentum into bilateral diplomatic ties. Germany reaffirmed its commitment to the One-China policy.
Recognizing the Charter of the United Nations and international law as the foundation of cooperation, China and Germany expressed their commitment to upholding the role of the United Nations, promoting multilateralism, and continuing support for free trade.
The visit demonstrates the determination of China and Germany to maintain stable and constructive diplomatic relations, deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and address differences through open and mutually respectful dialogue.
