American Peace Ambassador in Wolf’s Clothing: The Oil Politics of the Middle East Exposed

Titled “A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing,” the cartoon sharply critiques America’s greed for control over Middle Eastern oil and its tendency to cloak this pursuit in the guise of peaceful diplomacy.

In the cartoon, the Middle East region is depicted with the word “OIL” written three times, while US leadership is portrayed as a wolf carrying a flag of peace. Analysts suggest this illustrates that America’s true interest in the Middle East is oil, which it publicly labels as promoting peace and democracy.
