SCO Strongly Condemns Attack on Iran, Urges Immediate Restraint

Kathmandu: The member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) have expressed deep concern over the recent developments in the Middle East and the armed attack on Iran. The organization completely rejects the use of force and emphasizes that the issue must be resolved in accordance with international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
SCO member states hold the view that the current conflict can only be resolved through dialogue, mutual respect, and by taking into account the legitimate interests of all parties. They have stated that ensuring Iran’s national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity is absolutely essential.
The statement read, “All parties must immediately exercise restraint and prevent the situation from escalating further.” Furthermore, the SCO has strongly urged the United Nations and its Security Council to take immediate and necessary steps in this regard.
Expressing profound sorrow for the loss of lives in the attack, the SCO has voiced its support for the government and people of Iran. The organization has extended its condolences to the bereaved families in Iran during this tragic moment and has drawn the attention of the international community to pursue the path of a peaceful resolution.
