Senior Journalist Rathaur’s Allegation: Karki Commission Report One-sided and Misleading

Kathmandu. Senior journalist Harihar Singh has raised serious objections to the report of the commission formed to investigate the Gen Z protests, led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki. He has termed the report “completely misleading” and a document that “protects the criminals of the 24th.”
Journalist Singh has raised serious questions regarding the one-sided nature of the report and its neglect of various important aspects. He questioned why the commission did not investigate the main conspirators who incited students and instigated debates on Discord.

“The Karki Commission’s report—who was it that incited students by having them debate on Discord about the actions of the 23rd and 24th?” he asked, emphasizing that while blocking roads in a prohibited area might have been one thing, the identities of those who incited the demolition of the parliament building’s wall must be identified.
He further questioned, “What is this system of shooting directly without adopting various measures to control riots? And there is no need to even mention the destruction on the 24th. Shouldn’t we talk about those who died on that day, those who broke the jail, those who aided prisoner escapes, and those who incited others to flee?”
Senior journalist Singh stated that he and others were certain that such a one-sided report would emerge, warning that this would surely plunge the country into another crisis. His comments have raised serious questions about the conclusions and recommendations of the Karki Commission’s report.
