Arson Terror in Kathmandu
Pamphlet of Prasai Group Found, Suspicion of Conspiracy to Disrupt Elections

Kathmandu – Two vehicles were set on fire in Maharajganj and Naikap areas of Kathmandu on Tuesday night. According to the Kathmandu District Police Range, a Toyota car with registration number BAE 2836 was found torched near the office of SIPRADI Trading in Naikap, and a Maruti van with registration number Ba.7 Cha 1401 was found in the same condition in Maharajganj.
Police reported that the Maruti van was discovered with fire damage near the Rajdhani Petrol Pump in Maharajganj. Initial assessments suggest that the arson may have been carried out by a group active in attempting to disrupt the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21 (March 5).
Police Superintendent (SP) Bhattarai stated that pamphlets belonging to the group of medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai were also found at the scene. According to him, police have begun investigating the connection between the pamphlets and the incident. Both vehicles were completely damaged by the fire, and the incident caused fear among local residents for some time.
Police have stated that further investigation is underway and security arrangements have been tightened at the scene.
