Bhumjaithai Party’s Victory, Preparations for New Government Formation

Kathmandu – Bhumjaithai Party leader and caretaker Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced victory in Thailand’s House of Representatives election, stating that this is a victory for all the people.

With the country’s Election Commission having counted over 87 percent of the ballots, the Bhumjaithai Party is leading the election. The People’s Party is in second place and the Pheu Thai Party is in third.

Earlier, People’s Party leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut said that his party accepts the results and will not form a competing coalition. He stated that if the Bhumjaithai Party forms the government, the People’s Party is prepared to function as an opposition party.

Thailand’s Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva also expressed his party’s readiness to be in the opposition.

Pheu Thai Party leader Julapun Amornvivat said that his party respects the people’s choice and, whether in the role of the ruling party or the opposition, will make every effort to work well for the people.
