Ceasefire and Dialogue the Only Path to Solution: Agreement During China-Russia Telephone Talks

Kathmandu. A telephone conversation took place between Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. During the talks held on March 1, the two leaders engaged in detailed discussions on the international and regional situation.
During the conversation, Foreign Minister Wang Yi presented China’s clear stance, stating, “Military actions must cease immediately. Negotiations for a settlement must be resumed as soon as possible. And we must stand together against unilateral actions.” He emphasized that resolving conflicts is only possible through dialogue and diplomatic initiatives.
In response, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated that Russia’s position closely aligns with China’s. He expressed a commitment to further strengthen contacts and coordination between the two countries. “We call for an immediate halt to the war and a return to the process of diplomatic settlement negotiations through international platforms such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” Lavrov said.
Both leaders emphasized that increasing tensions in the current international situation negatively impact global peace and stability, stressing the need to resolve problems through talks and dialogue.
