China’s Strong Reaction After US-Israel Attack: ‘Dialogue, Not War, Is the Only Option’

Kathmandu / Fu Cong, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has expressed deep concern over the military attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on Saturday.
Addressing an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, Fu Cong stated that China has always opposed the use or threat of force in international relations. He emphasized that all parties must adhere to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
“The sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Iran and other countries in the region must be respected,” he said.
The Chinese ambassador expressed deep sorrow over the large number of civilian casualties caused by the conflict, stating, “The red line for protecting civilians in armed conflict must never be crossed. Indiscriminate use of force is unacceptable.”
He called on all parties to fulfill their obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law, to ensure the safety of civilians, and to refrain from attacks on civilian facilities.
Noting that the escalation and spread of tensions in the Middle East are not in anyone’s interest, Fu Cong said that the use of force is not the right way to resolve international disputes. “The use of force only fuels hatred and conflict. Dialogue and negotiation are the only way to resolve differences,” he stated.
China has called for an immediate cessation of military actions to prevent the cycle of conflict from continuing. Fu Cong urged the concerned parties to demonstrate political sincerity, resume dialogue and negotiations as soon as possible, and return to the right path of seeking a political solution.
“China is ready to work with the international community to advance peace efforts and help restore peace and stability in the Middle East at an early date,” he said.
