China’s Two Sessions and Nepal-China Cooperation: The Beginning of a New Journey

# Prem Sagar Poudel
The ‘Two Sessions,’ a significant moment in China’s political life, have become even more special this time. With the commencement of the Fourth Session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), China has officially begun its 15th Five-Year Plan. This is not merely a roadmap for China’s internal development but also a cornerstone for adding a new chapter to the global development paradigm.
This year’s sessions have focused on innovative development, modern industrialization, reform and opening-up, and environmental protection. These themes clearly illustrate how the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government are addressing the needs of the people and adapting to global changes. China’s high-quality development has now transcended being a ‘solo performance’ and is taking the form of a ‘symphony’ played in harmony with various countries around the world.
As the Nepal-China Mutual Cooperation Society, we are closely observing China’s development journey. The progress and achievements China has made in every field have become a source of inspiration for us. Particularly, the development cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has elevated Nepal-China relations to new heights.
This year’s Two Sessions have initiated China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, which emphasizes innovation, green development, and shared prosperity. These priorities align perfectly with Nepal’s national needs and developmental aspirations. We believe that in the days ahead, under China’s plan, more Chinese investment, technology transfer, and capacity-building programs will expand into Nepal.
There is another coincidence about March 5th. On the same day, elections were also concluded in Nepal. This demonstrates that both countries are advancing on their respective paths of development, and in this context, the ideas of openness, innovation, and shared benefits emanating from China’s Two Sessions have provided the world with a valuable sense of certainty.
On behalf of the Nepal-China Mutual Cooperation Society, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Communist Party of China, the Chinese government, and the great Chinese people for the successful convening of the Two Sessions and the auspicious beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan. Furthermore, we are optimistic that in the days to come, Nepal-China relations will grow even deeper, and the people of both countries will achieve shared prosperity. It is our firm belief that only through such cooperation and joint efforts can a new era of regional peace and global prosperity begin.
