Cold Wave Alert in China: Temperature to Drop by 12 Degrees, Blue Alert Issued

Kathmandu – China’s National Meteorological Center issued a blue alert for a cold wave on Sunday. Meteorologists have warned of a significant drop in temperature over the next two days as the country braces for cold weather.

According to the National Meteorological Center, from February 22 to 23, temperatures are expected to fall by 6 to 10 degrees Celsius in regions including north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the northeastern Chinese provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning, as well as Jiangsu Province in eastern China. The center stated that in parts of Heilongjiang and Jilin, the temperature could drop by more than 12 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological center has urged relevant authorities to prepare for both the cold wave and strong winds, and to implement protective measures for tropical crops and aquatic products in the affected areas.

China operates a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, where red indicates the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow, and blue.

Meanwhile, meteorologists have advised citizens to take necessary precautions and arrange proper safety measures to protect themselves from the cold. Special appeals have been made to the elderly, children, and those with chronic illnesses to exercise extra caution to avoid the cold.
