Completion of Elections: A Collective Success, Let Us Unite for the Longevity of the Nation

Kathmandu / The Nepal-China Mutual Cooperation Society has taken the concluded House of Representatives election as a result of the collective consciousness of the Nepali people and their unwavering faith in democracy. Beyond who wins or loses in this election, the greater achievement is that it was concluded peacefully on the scheduled date. Had the elections not taken place, the country would have certainly been pushed towards anarchy and a disastrous situation.
Everyone has contributed to this historic achievement. No single individual or party alone should claim credit for this. If the political parties represented in parliament had not participated in the election, if the security agencies had not performed their duties diligently, if the Election Commission and all its employees had not fulfilled their responsibilities honestly, if the President had not played a guardian-like role between the parties and the government, if the general public, media, and intellectuals had not helped create a positive electoral atmosphere, and most importantly, if millions of voters had not participated in the voting, this election would simply not have been possible.
Therefore, this success is the result of the collective effort of the entire Nepali people. Hence, we must rise above the tendency to ‘deify’ anyone or to prop up and aggrandize anyone for extraordinary and unconstitutional responsibilities. In a democracy, all institutions and individuals function within their respective limits. Attempts to make anyone a center of unconstitutional power can push the country towards long-term instability.
We have not yet achieved complete success. Many challenges still lie ahead. We still have a long journey to undertake on the fronts of economic prosperity, social unity, good governance, and development. Therefore, the need of the hour is to rise above partisan interests and unite for the longevity and prosperity of the nation.
The Nepal-China Mutual Cooperation Society appeals to all political parties, concerned bodies, and the general public in this difficult time to maintain the country’s stability, social unity, and a conducive political environment, urging everyone to collectively wish for and make meaningful efforts towards the nation’s longevity.
Long live Nepal-China friendship!
