Crores looted from Honey-Trap Victim Businessman, Decision to Release Accused Woman on Attorney General’s Order

Kathmandu – The woman who extorted crores of rupees from an auto businessman through a honey-trap, along with her accomplice, has been released on bail under the order of Attorney General Sabita Bhandari herself. Despite police completing their investigation and submitting a report, the District Government Attorney’s Office, Lalitpur, decided on Falgun 5 to release them on bail.

Meanwhile, after the main accused woman, who took nearly 6 crores of rupees through the honey-trap, was allowed to flee towards China, the victim businessman has faced further anguish. Police investigation has revealed that 35-year-old Tulsi Adhikari of Nawalparasi cheated Kumar Chhimoria, operator of Hamro Auto Mobiles Pvt. Ltd., of crores through a honey-trap.

The acquaintance with Tulsi, who worked at the Mahindra vehicle showroom in Butwal, occurred during vehicle dealings. Tulsi, a divorcee, suggested going for a snack and took him to a restaurant in Lumbini, where physical relations occurred. According to Kumar, she herself booked a private room and began blackmailing him by recording videos of the activities there.

“When I went to park the car, she had booked a room at the guest house. She had made videos of the activities in the room. She has been blackmailing me by showing that same video,” the victim businessman said.

She would keep sending her nude photos, and started pressuring him to arrange schooling for her children in Kathmandu schools, calling him to Hotel Tirupati in Putalisadak. After she began threatening him for refusing, Kumar was compelled to make the arrangements.

Then the demands kept increasing – sometimes a flat, sometimes a shop, sometimes foreign trips. He opened a clothing shop in Kumaripati for her, paying monthly rent of Rs. 70,000. When she couldn’t run the shop, she demanded a metal shop, which was also fulfilled. Tulsi, who kept demanding lakhs of rupees, was also provided a job at Mega Motors, but she left within seven months.

According to the victim businessman, Tulsi has taken property worth around Rs. 6 crores from him, including cash and jewelry. “Sometimes she’d say this, sometimes that. As soon as I said no, threats would come. I had to arrange lakhs of rupees instantly,” he expressed his pain.

This incident has raised serious questions about the role of the Government Attorney’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office. Instead of strengthening the government’s side and prosecuting the case as government attorneys should, allegations have been made that they are doing the opposite – granting impunity to criminals. Earlier too, Attorney General Bhandari was embroiled in controversy by deciding to withdraw the money laundering and organized crime cases against RSP Chairman Ravi Lamichhane. Furthermore, the process of releasing those who damaged government and private property during the Gen-Z protests on Bhadra 23 and 24 continues rapidly.
