Day 13 of War in the Middle East: Fierce Retaliation Between Iran and Israel

Tel Aviv / The fierce ongoing war in the Middle East has entered its 13th day. In response to the military attack launched by the US and Israel on Iran, Iran and Hezbollah have launched major missile and rocket attacks on Israel. The Israeli military has also stated that it has begun a ‘widespread wave of strikes’ on Iran early Thursday morning.
The retaliation began after air sirens blared across Israel warning of missile attacks from Iran. Residents of Tel Aviv reported hearing loud explosions. According to Israel’s state-owned Kan TV News, missile fragments fell in several locations in Tel Aviv. The Israeli rescue service, Magen David Adom, has stated that its teams have been deployed to search for possible casualties in areas where missile strikes or falling fragments have been reported.
These attacks follow major Israeli airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Wednesday night. In response, Hezbollah fired rocket barrages at northern Israel for hours.
According to Israeli military officials, Hezbollah fighters fired about 100 rockets and several drones at northern Israel. Similarly, Iran also launched several missiles at the northern region as well as other areas. Magen David Adom has reported strikes and stated that at least two civilians were lightly injured.
This fighting comes as the regional conflict, which began with the joint US-Israeli military strikes, has entered its 13th day. So far, thousands have died in this war, and it has had a major impact on the global economy and energy markets. At a time when the international community is pressuring for an immediate ceasefire and a return to negotiations, this new retaliation has once again cast doubt on the possibility of peace.
