Dialogue to Further Strengthen Nepal–Russia Relations
Friendly Meeting Between Foreign Minister Sharma and Russian Chargé d’Affaires

Kathmandu – The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Russian Federation to Nepal, Mr. Andrei Kiselenko, paid a courtesy call on Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Bala Nanda Sharma on Sunday. During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on bilateral relations between the two countries, the current state of cooperation, and future prospects.
At the meeting, Chargé d’Affaires Kiselenko congratulated Foreign Minister Sharma on his recent appointment and conveyed his best wishes for a successful tenure. In response, Foreign Minister Sharma noted that Nepal–Russia relations have historically remained friendly and expressed his commitment to further strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation.

During the discussions, both sides reviewed the overall status of bilateral cooperation between Nepal and Russia and deliberated on potential areas for expanding cooperation in the coming days. Positive discussions were also held on further deepening ties in diplomacy, education, culture, security, and people-to-people relations.
Foreign Minister Sharma warmly recalled his experience of working in Russia as a Defence Attaché, noting that the professional and personal contacts established during that period remain close to this day. He emphasized that Nepal’s relations with Russia are based on mutual respect and trust.
According to sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting was held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere. The meeting is being viewed as a positive sign toward taking Nepal–Russia relations to a new level.
