Drone Attack on US Embassy in Riyadh, Suspected Iranian Retaliation

Riyadh – A drone attack has been carried out on the US Embassy in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the attack, stating that the embassy building sustained minor damage.
The US Embassy informed via a post on social media platform X that the attack caused a small fire and slight damage to the building. Following the attack, the embassy administration has advised American citizens in Jeddah, Riyadh, and Dhahran to stay safely indoors.
Earlier on Monday, smoke was also seen near the US Embassy area in Kuwait, after which the embassy there urged its citizens not to come to the embassy and to remain safe in their own homes.
These attacks come at a time when the US and Israel attacked Iran on Saturday. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in that attack. Subsequently, Iran had vowed retaliation.
It is reported that Iran has been launching missiles, specifically targeting US military installations in Gulf countries. This drone attack on the US Embassy in Riyadh is also suspected to be part of Iran’s retaliatory action. However, nothing has been officially confirmed in this regard.
Amidst the rising tensions in the region, the US government has directed its citizens to be mindful of their security. Americans in Saudi Arabia have been asked to exercise high caution.
