Historical Perspectives on Nepal’s Territorial and Geopolitical Struggles

# Madan Regmi
The colonial “India” the so called heir of Imperialist British India is bent upon to destroy and split Nepal turning it into its territory. And it has sabotage many running and offing development projects of Nepal, capturing major rivers Koshi, Gandaki, Mahakali and Karnali and had been launching demographic invasion of Nepal through its imposed open border. India is in occopution of nearly one lakh square kilometer territory of Nepal which Bretain has occupied to end its war with Nepal.
To grab this huge Nepalese territory, the British bribed Gajararaj Misra and Chandra Shekhar Upadhaya who was representing the Nepalese court (Durbar) to negeociate with British to end the war. They singned each and every documents provided by their foreign master at the cost of the country and absconded to British India. receiving huge land and property from Britain. After signing the Sugauli Treaty to end the Anglo -Nepal War (1814-16).
After the establishment of India in 1947 this new Colonoal power of India reoccupied those territory Britain has alleaged ceded to Nepal to end Anglo-Nepal war. India recaptured the vast Nepalese territory which was up to Gangage to Gomati in the South, Kangra, Kashmir to the Wast, source of Testa now in west Bengal and some portion in Bangladesh. Indian occupied Nepalese territory are Siban, Motihari, all the hilly and adjacent lands up to the bank of Kashmir and Satalaj tiver, Gorkhpur, Rupedia.
Besides, the most valuable and beautiful Nepalese territory of Deheradun Kumau and Garwal, Simla, Darjeeling, Kalingpong, Karshang, Siliguri, Mussori these Nepalese land India ceeded to Britain was recaptured by India immediately after its establishment. However, China our northern neighbour China was very very weak then and couldn’t even abide by its Treaty of 1792 september 30 in clause four (4) China that stipulates China would come to Nepal’s assistance in the event of an attack by a foreign country. But a superpower China will be definitely in the side ofNepal with full strength to savegurd Nepal’s sovereignty independence and terrotorial integrety.
However, Nepal did everything possible to stop the advancing British troop that’s objective was to capture Tibet through Nepal. Nepal’s contribution has been accepted by Chinese side in many occupation. In August 14, 2005 speaking at the seminar on China-Nepal relation and Abassador of China to Nepal Mr Sun Heping underscored that “Mr. Madan Regmi said once China’s success in preventing the advancing imperial British from reaching the Himalayas in 1814-16 Anglo-Nepal war, though it was costly for Kathmandu, it provided a strong security crest to China’s South-Western region. This is one of the glowing illustrations of how Nepal contributed to China’s security.”
He asked “have the Chinese historians and millitary strategists ever acknowledged this part of the history”? Yes, l have, as a Chinese a Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Nepal in the early 21st century.
