Biratnagar \u2013 Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Secretary Paras Khadka has stated that the association is in constant coordination with the National Sports Council regarding the non-renewal of its registration, while alleging that attempts have been made to derail Nepali cricket by filing anonymous complaints with the anti-corruption watchdog.<\/p>\n

Speaking to journalists in Biratnagar on Sunday, Secretary Khadka acknowledged that the renewal is a procedural matter and admitted that some delay has occurred due to workload. “With the conclusion of the second edition of the NPL, the financial side has grown substantially. Across the two editions, the eight teams have invested nearly two and a half billion rupees. Given such massive investment, we are submitting a request to the government for tax exemption. Completing all these procedures has taken time,” he said.<\/p>\n

Expressing displeasure over the media scrutiny of the NPL’s financial matters, Khadka said, “By filing anonymous complaints with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority and alleging irregularities, attempts have been made to disrupt cricket. But Nepali cricket will now move forward.” He added that those wishing to inspect the accounts have been invited to visit the office in person.<\/p>\n

On the internal discord within CAN, Khadka remarked, “If some individuals are personally dissatisfied, they have chosen their own path. This is a matter to be resolved through discussion within the CAN family itself.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, regarding the TU International Cricket Ground, Secretary Khadka said the government has accorded it high priority. Noting that around one billion rupees was invested in the TU ground last year alone, he expressed hope that the Mulpani and Baijnathpur grounds would also receive budget allocations. “The process of strengthening the foundation of cricket continues,” he said.<\/p>\n

Khadka informed that the two-day CAN Annual General Meeting will endorse the audit report for fiscal year 2081\/82, the annual programme and budget for 2026, as well as the first two editions of the Nepal Premier League.<\/p>\n
