It maintains relations with the West and participates in the Quad, but it has also preserved its defense, energy, nuclear, space, food security, and multilateral cooperation with Russia. This is India\u2019s strategic autonomy, and it is also an important achievement for Russia. Despite Western pressure, India has not severed its relations with Russia. This fact weakens Western claims of Russia\u2019s diplomatic isolation.<\/p>\n

The central argument of this entire scenario in Russia\u2019s favor is this: Russia is not merely practicing the politics of resistance today. It is advancing the concept of an alternative world order. Financial autonomy through BRICS, energy and trade cooperation with India, strategic coordination with China, multilateral dialogue with Iran and the Global South, and talks with the United States on an equal footing\u2014all these elements together make Moscow\u2019s strategy clear. Russia does not want to close the door on the West, but it is also unwilling to return to the unipolar framework created by the West.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Russia\u2019s path is not simple. The Ukraine war, sanctions, distance from Europe, differences within BRICS, dissatisfaction with neighbors such as Armenia, and instability in the global energy market\u2014all these challenges remain. But Moscow does not see these challenges as signs of defeat; it views them as the pain of a multipolar transition. In its understanding, the old order is breaking down, a new order is being born, and the conflict, confusion, and confrontation seen today are part of that transition.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, Lavrov\u2019s New Delhi statements appear almost like a concise manifesto of Russia\u2019s current foreign policy. They contain sharp criticism of the West, but the door to dialogue is not closed. They express confidence in BRICS, but do not declare isolation from the West. They emphasize deep cooperation with India, but do not use the language of military bloc politics.
