Lhasa. The launch and book presentation ceremony for the “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Riboche County” collection (Volumes 1 to 3), comprising 55,000 characters, was held with great solemnity in Lhasa on the afternoon of May 16, 2026.<\/p>\n

To ensure the rapid preservation and strengthening of folk literature, the Riboche County Party Committee and County Government had initiated the compilation work for this collection back in 2022. The collection encompasses three volumes covering folk tales, proverbs, and folk songs, bearing significant characteristics of historical documentation, literary value, and scientific dissemination. To preserve the authenticity of the local language, the original texts have been retained in their authentic form, supplemented by photographs taken by local photographers.<\/p>\n

The collection embodies the dedication of several generations of cultural practitioners, with the compilation work completed over four distinct phases. Compilers overcame numerous difficulties and carried out editing under the guidance of experts, while folk artists participated with great enthusiasm. The initial materials were systematically refined, classified, edited, and annotated, and the unique value of the oral literature of the Riboche region was expounded from a literary perspective. Information related to oral literature narrators and compilers has also been included to honour their hard work and dedication.<\/p>\n

At the launch ceremony, compilation advisor Kalzang Namgyal presented detailed information on the collection, comprehensive editing, and search and gathering of the folk literature. The chief editors of the three volumes provided explanations regarding the compilation, editing, and annotation, as well as the distinctive features and cultural value of Riboche’s folk literature. Experts from various fields attending the event acknowledged that this collection has filled a gap in the systematic compilation of regional folk literature and has provided important standardised materials for the study of Tibetan intangible cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

During the book presentation segment, the compilation committee presented the collection to eleven institutions, including the Tibet University Library. This event marks a significant achievement in Riboche County’s systematic and rapid preservation and strengthening of intangible cultural heritage resources. In the next phase, the county shall continue to promote the outstanding creative transformation and innovative development of traditional Chinese culture, contributing to the sustainable development of the intangible cultural heritage of the Tibet Autonomous Region.<\/p>\n
