Beijing. Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between Russia and China in the new era is a model of interstate relations in today’s world. He made this remark during expanded-format Russia-China talks held in Beijing on May 20.<\/p>\n

“First of all, I would like to thank you and all our Chinese friends for the warm welcome, the invitation and the hospitality extended to us. We have just held substantive restricted-format talks on key issues of bilateral cooperation in the traditionally friendly and trust-based spirit,” President Putin said.

Putin noted that, as is customary, the co-chairs of the five intergovernmental commissions shall report on their work, while the Foreign Ministers of both countries shall brief on coordination in the international arena. “The comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between Russia and China in the new era is a model of interstate relations in today’s world. It is based on the principles of equality and mutual consideration of each other’s interests, mutual support, friendship and genuine good-neighbourliness,” he stated.<\/p>\n

The Russian President said that the goal of both countries is the well-being and prosperity of the Russian and Chinese peoples, adding that these unwavering foundations have enabled their relations to successfully pass the test of strength and resilience more than once. He noted that over the 25 years since the signing of the foundational Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation, Russia-China interaction has expanded significantly.<\/p>\n

“We are determined to continue working together in the same spirit. We will continue to develop our bilateral cooperation and remain actively engaged on international platforms, where our colleagues work in close coordination to lay a solid foundation for sustainable progress towards a multipolar world,” Putin said. He also informed that relevant agencies of both countries maintain close and constructive contacts and are actively working to further advance joint projects and initiatives.<\/p>\n
