Moscow. The Moscow State Institute of International Relations, known as MGIMO University, has announced that applications are open for international students for its preparatory and undergraduate programmes.<\/p>\n

MGIMO, which operates under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, is regarded as one of Russia\u2019s oldest and most prestigious universities. Founded in 1944 with the purpose of training diplomats for the Soviet Ministry of Foreign Affairs and allied countries, the university has developed over the past 80 years into a major intellectual centre for producing skilled professionals in international relations, diplomacy, politics, economics, language, culture and communication.<\/p>\n

MGIMO presents itself as a university dedicated to \u201cshaping minds that shape the world.\u201d It places elite interdisciplinary education, language and cultural training, experienced faculty, intellectual courage and critical thinking at the centre of its academic values.<\/p>\n

The university\u2019s alumni include Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and former UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, among others. According to the university, thousands of its graduates, including diplomats, politicians, entrepreneurs, experts and journalists, have gone on to play important roles in their countries and on the international stage.<\/p>\n

MGIMO currently operates four campuses in Moscow, Odintsovo, Tashkent and Astana. The university has 14 schools and institutes, eight research centres, 15 undergraduate majors, 48 bachelor\u2019s degree programmes, 18 graduate majors and 63 master\u2019s programmes. It also teaches 56 languages, a distinction recognised by Guinness World Records.<\/p>\n

MGIMO says it has built a global academic community connecting students and alumni from more than 90 countries. Students and graduates often describe the university as the \u201cMGIMO family.\u201d<\/p>\n

International students can apply online for MGIMO\u2019s preparatory or bachelor\u2019s degree programmes. The application process includes online registration, filling out the applicant form, uploading the required documents to a personal account, and participating in online selection events after the admissions committee reviews the submitted documents.<\/p>\n

The university has advised interested applicants to complete the application process early in order to resolve any possible technical or documentation issues in advance.
