Kathmandu. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has raised no questions regarding the role of Prime Minister Balendra Shah ‘Balen’ in the investigation report it made public on Wednesday concerning the Gen-Z movement that took place on Bhadau 23 and 24.<\/p>\n

The Commission has pointed out the need for further investigation, stating that hundreds of individuals\u2014from those leading the state to those playing various roles in the movement\u2014could be guilty. However, the Commission appears to have remained silent on the matter of the statuses written by Balen, who was then serving as the chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.<\/p>\n

The Commission has indicated the need for further investigation and action against individuals ranging from those who wrote statuses on social media to those seen in various roles during the movement. At that time, Balen, who is now the Prime Minister, had set the tone by writing statuses on social media on matters ranging from supporting the Gen-Z movement to calling for its suspension. However, even as the Commission has recommended investigations into former prime ministers, former home ministers, lawmakers of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, senior security officials, and artists, it has made no mention of Balen’s role. The Commission’s silence on this matter has raised questions.<\/p>\n
