The fifth China Media Group Forum was held in Chongqing, China, on June 10. The forum was jointly organized by China Media Group and the Chongqing Municipal People\u2019s Government.<\/p>\n

Held under the theme \u201cContinuity and Renewal: Media\u2019s Mission in the Intelligent Era,\u201d the forum brought together representatives from government departments, international organizations, media institutions, domestic and foreign think tanks, and transnational businesses from various countries.<\/p>\n

Around 300 representatives attended the event. Participants discussed the role, responsibilities and future direction of the media sector at a time when artificial intelligence and new technologies are rapidly transforming global communication.<\/p>\n

Addressing the opening ceremony, Yuan Jiajun, secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee, said Chinese President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the creativity and development of media institutions. He noted that the congratulatory letter sent by President Xi to the first CMG Forum had provided the right direction for the future development of media.<\/p>\n

Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of China Media Group, also addressed the forum. He said this year marks the beginning of China\u2019s 15th Five-Year Plan.<\/p>\n

Shen said media organizations should carry out their responsibilities more effectively in the intelligent era. He added that CMG is willing to work hand in hand with global media partners to contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.<\/p>\n

Tshilidzi Marwala, UN under-secretary-general and rector of the United Nations University, also delivered remarks at the forum.<\/p>\n

The forum focused on technology, artificial intelligence, reliable information dissemination, international media cooperation and the role of media in serving the common interests of humanity.<\/p>\n

According to the organizers, the forum highlighted the need for media in the intelligent era to serve not only as a channel for information, but also as a bridge for dialogue, cooperation, innovation and mutual understanding among civilizations.<\/p>\n
