A joint reception was held in Brussels on the occasion of the National Day of the Russian Federation. The event was hosted on June 11, 2026, by the Embassy of Russia in the Kingdom of Belgium and the Permanent Mission of Russia to the European Union and Euratom.

According to the organizers, the reception was attended by heads of missions and senior diplomats from more than 50 countries of the World Majority, representatives of international and regional organizations, Members of the European Parliament, clergy of the Russian Orthodox Archdiocese of Brussels and Belgium, representatives of business circles, and members of the Russian compatriot community.<\/p>\n

Ambassador of Russia to the Kingdom of Belgium Denis Gonchar and Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires ad interim of the Permanent Mission of Russia to the European Union and Euratom Karen Malayan addressed the guests with welcoming remarks.

In his remarks, Malayan stated that the Russian nation has a thousand-year history and that the Russian people have endured many difficult trials, always overcoming them with dignity and emerging stronger and more united. He recalled that 2026 has been declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin as the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

Malayan emphasized that Russian culture is a unique and integral part of world culture, adding that attempts by the European Union to ban or \u201ccancel\u201d Russian culture would be futile. Noting that relations between Russia and the European Union are currently going through the deepest systemic crisis, he said Russia does not rule out the possibility of resuming dialogue with Europe in the future. However, he stressed that such dialogue must be built on a new foundation based on honesty, equality, genuine mutual respect, fair partnership, and a joint search for solutions that take into account the interests of all parties.

He also underlined that public acknowledgements by several European politicians describing the European Union as a party to the Ukrainian conflict would be taken seriously by Russia and would require an appropriate response.<\/p>\n

Malayan further stated that despite current international challenges, the Russian Federation remains firmly committed to continuing cooperation with friends and partners from the countries of the World Majority in order to build a fair multipolar world order based on the Charter of the United Nations and its principles in their entirety and interconnection.<\/p>\n

For his part, Ambassador Gonchar highlighted that Russia is steadily developing and continuing its confident progress in all areas. He noted that, in terms of gross domestic product based on purchasing power parity, the Russian Federation ranks fourth in the world and first among European countries.<\/p>\n

According to Gonchar, representatives from more than 140 countries took part in the recently concluded St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. He said more than 1,000 agreements were signed during the forum, totaling over 6.5 trillion roubles, or around 90 billion US dollars.<\/p>\n

The reception also featured photo exhibitions by the Russian Geographical Society titled \u201cMultinational Russia\u201d and \u201cRussia in Faces,\u201d as well as an exhibition by the Oleg Panteleev Foundation titled \u201cPristine Russia: Selected Works.\u201d The exhibitions showcased Russia\u2019s rich natural landscapes, cultural diversity, and multinational identity.<\/p>\n

Russian folk and contemporary songs, along with dance and musical performances, were also presented during the event. According to the organizers, the cultural performances became one of the highlights of the festive evening and resonated deeply with the guests.<\/p>\n
