Kathmandu. Calls for a fact based investigation have emerged after a video claiming that a Nepali woman who had gone abroad for employment was subjected to violence was circulated on social media.<\/p>\n

A singer shared the video on Facebook, drawing attention to the risks faced by Nepali migrant workers, including women, who travel abroad for livelihood opportunities. In her post, she said many Nepali brothers and sisters working overseas become victims of violence and abuse.<\/p>\n

She stated that while some such incidents become public, many others remain hidden. She urged the government to search for the truth behind violent incidents involving Nepali citizens that have already appeared on social media and to take necessary steps to ensure justice for the victims.<\/p>\n

In the video circulated on social media, a woman is seen inside a lift. In parts of the footage, she appears to be in distress and is seen bending toward the floor with a bag. However, the video does not clearly establish the country, location, date or exact circumstances of the incident.<\/p>\n

The social media post highlights the broader issue of Nepali citizens, particularly women migrant workers, facing risks of violence, exploitation and abuse while working abroad. However, it has not yet been officially confirmed whether the woman seen in the video is a Nepali citizen or whether the incident was criminal in nature.<\/p>\n

It would not be appropriate to draw immediate conclusions solely on the basis of social media content. However, once a claim emerges that a Nepali citizen abroad may have faced violence, the concerned state agencies should conduct preliminary verification, seek information through the relevant embassy if necessary and determine the condition of the possible victim.<\/p>\n

Through the post, the singer expressed hope that the government would fulfil its responsibility to investigate such incidents involving Nepali citizens and help ensure justice for the victims.<\/p>\n

Further clarity on the nature of the incident, the condition of the woman and any legal process will depend on official information from the concerned government agencies or the relevant Nepali mission abroad.<\/p>\n
