Nearly 34,000 Chinese tourists visited Cambodia\u2019s world-famous Angkor Archaeological Park during the first six months of 2026.<\/p>\n

According to a report released by the state-owned Angkor Enterprise, a total of 33,991 Chinese visitors toured the historic site between January and June, making China the fourth-largest source of international tourists to the park during the period.<\/p>\n

In June alone, 4,272 Chinese tourists visited Angkor. China rose to become the second-largest source of international visitors to the park during the month, the report said.<\/p>\n

The figures indicate a gradual improvement in Chinese tourist arrivals compared with the early months of the year. China is regarded as an important tourism market for Cambodia. An increase in Chinese visitors is expected to directly support hotels, restaurants, transport services, local handicraft businesses, tour guides and other tourism-related sectors.<\/p>\n

Located in northwestern Cambodia\u2019s Siem Reap province, the Angkor Archaeological Park covers an area of approximately 401 square kilometres. It contains 91 ancient temples built by rulers of the Khmer Empire between the ninth and 13th centuries.<\/p>\n

Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Bayon and Ta Prohm are among the site\u2019s best-known historical and religious monuments. Angkor holds global significance because of its vast temples, sculptures, inscriptions, water-management systems and its representation of the political and cultural history of the Khmer civilisation.<\/p>\n

The Angkor Archaeological Park is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is also Cambodia\u2019s most popular tourist destination.<\/p>\n

Tourism is one of the major pillars of the Cambodian economy. Higher international tourist arrivals at Angkor generate revenue from ticket sales while also supporting local employment, hotels, airlines, transport services and small businesses.<\/p>\n

Cambodia and China have expanded cooperation in tourism promotion, air connectivity and infrastructure development in recent years. A new international airport built in the Siem Reap area has made access to the Angkor complex easier for foreign visitors.<\/p>\n

Although China ranked as the fourth-largest tourist source market for Angkor during the first half of 2026, its rise to second place in June indicates that Chinese tourist arrivals could continue to increase in the coming months.<\/p>\n
