The Russian Ministry of Defence has claimed that the Ukrainian side rejected a humanitarian proposal to hand over the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers killed in Konstantinovka.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued on July 4, 2026, the Russian Ministry of Defence said Russian forces had established full control over Konstantinovka and were prepared to hand over the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers found there.<\/p>\n

For that purpose, Russia proposed that the Ukrainian side halt shelling in Konstantinovka from 12 noon to 6 pm Moscow time on July 6. Ukraine was asked to communicate its decision by midday on July 5 through available channels involving the special services.<\/p>\n

In a subsequent statement, the Russian Ministry of Defence said that the Ukrainian side had refused to participate while the proposal was being coordinated through the special services.<\/p>\n

Criticising the Ukrainian authorities, the ministry said, \u201cThus, the Kiev regime did absolutely nothing to ensure that the bodies of the fallen Ukrainian servicemen could be given a dignified burial by their relatives.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Russian statement accused the Ukrainian authorities of treating fallen soldiers as \u201cdisposable materiel.\u201d The ministry also claimed that people were being sent to the front line mainly through forced mobilisation.<\/p>\n

These remarks are allegations made by the Russian Ministry of Defence. Dragon Media has not been able to independently verify the claim concerning Ukraine\u2019s military mobilisation practices.<\/p>\n

Although Russia has said that it has established full control over Konstantinovka, the actual situation on the battlefield has not been fully verified independently. The two sides have regularly presented differing accounts of developments in the conflict zone.<\/p>\n

Similarly, the public statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Defence did not provide detailed information about the exact location for the handover of the bodies, arrangements for safe passage, procedures for identifying the dead, or the possible involvement of a neutral organisation such as the International Committee of the Red Cross.<\/p>\n

However, the absence of such technical and security arrangements from the public statement alone does not mean that they were not proposed. Details of humanitarian transfers between warring parties are often settled through direct or confidential contacts.<\/p>\n

At the time this report was prepared, there had been no independent confirmation that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence or the Ukrainian Armed Forces had issued a detailed formal public response to the latest allegation made by the Russian Ministry of Defence.<\/p>\n
