Home Minister Sudan Gurung has expressed sorrow over the death of rider Ganesh Nepali during treatment, saying the government made every possible effort to save his life.<\/p>\n

Speaking in the House of Representatives, Gurung said an air ambulance had been kept ready to take Nepali to India for further treatment, coordination had been made with the Indian side, and continuous consultations were held with medical specialists. However, he said the transfer could not take place because the patient\u2019s condition was not stable enough, based on medical advice.<\/p>\n

Gurung reacted strongly to accusations that he had tried to stage a publicity stunt over the incident. He said government officials had worked throughout the night in coordination with the hospital, airport authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indian Embassy and medical teams.<\/p>\n

He claimed that the wheel lock placed on Ganesh Nepali\u2019s motorcycle was not imposed by the federal government or traffic police, but by municipal police under the local government. He also said traffic fines and related actions are determined by existing laws and responsible agencies, while the Home Ministry\u2019s role is to enforce the law.<\/p>\n

Gurung said the current government was being blamed for implementing laws made by previous governments. He clarified that the government had not introduced new rules on black-tinted vehicle windows, traffic fines or wheel locks, but was acting on existing legal provisions and procedures.<\/p>\n

The home minister informed Parliament that a five-member investigation committee had been formed under the coordination of Deputy Inspector General Govinda Thapaliya to investigate the Ganesh Nepali case. According to him, three municipal police personnel connected with the incident have been taken under control for questioning.<\/p>\n

Gurung said the investigation would be impartial and that action would be taken against anyone found guilty. He urged opposition parties not to politicise the incident, saying the state\u2019s primary responsibility is to protect citizens\u2019 lives.<\/p>\n

Opposition lawmakers had been raising questions in Parliament about the government\u2019s working style, traffic enforcement, the handling of Ganesh Nepali\u2019s treatment and the state\u2019s conduct toward citizens. Responding to them, Gurung said citizens are not served by raising voices only inside Parliament, adding that the government must go to the field and understand people\u2019s suffering directly.<\/p>\n

He also defended the government\u2019s position on the use of helicopters and rescue equipment. According to Gurung, helicopters are not always the solution in disaster response, and the use of drones, rescue teams and other tools should depend on the situation. He said state funds must be used responsibly and that rescue decisions should be based on practical assessment, not emotion.<\/p>\n

During his address, Gurung apologised if his choice of words had hurt anyone. However, he repeated that the government\u2019s intention was to serve citizens and work for the country\u2019s better future.<\/p>\n

He urged lawmakers to rise above the divide between the ruling side and the opposition and work together for nation-building. He said citizens\u2019 suffering should not be politicised and that all sides should move forward by correcting their weaknesses.<\/p>\n

Gurung said he had entered the government as a representative of the younger generation and remained committed to working honestly. He added that he would not step back from his responsibility toward the country, citizens and Parliament.<\/p>\n
